One kōrero (story) we have heard is - kawakawa was the first medicinal tree to be planted. Tāne (Māori god of the forest and all that lives within it) gave kawakawa the healing qualities of ALL other medicinal plants and in doing so bestowed upon it pride of place among our rongoā rākau (native therapeutic plants). This may be why many say "if you are in doubt of which plant to use, select kawakawa.

A natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant: Māori have revered its properties for reducing inflammation and protecting the body from oxidative stress and supporting overall health.
Immune support: Some traditional uses suggest the kawakawa can support the immune system, helping the body fight off infections and illness. One of the stories we have heard is rongoā rākau acts as a connector - reminding and helping the body to heal itself. Nothing can heal our bodies, like our body can.
Diaphoretic: Kawakawa promotes sweating which is useful for expelling toxins and pathogens via the skin - especially helpful when recovering from colds and flu.
Anti dyspeptic and antispasmodic: Helpful for countering dyspepsia or indigestion and can also ease muscle spasms or cramps.
Skin health: Kawakawa has been used topically (applied to skin) for generations to help various skin conditions, including eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, sores, grazes, cuts and more.

Ingredients -
Glycerol, Aqua, New Zealand Flaxseed Oil, Kawakawa (Macropiper Excelsum)
Oral use: [50ml bottle - extract a half dropper "dose"] or [30ml bottle - extract a full dropper "dose"] dispense a dose under tongue and hold for 30 - 60 seconds before swallowing. Take as required up to a maximum of 6 doses per day.
Topical use: -
Applying this elixir directly to the skin can return good results for a myriad of skin conditions. It's remedial properties hydrate and nourish skin. Varying levels of positive success have been experienced with skin prone to eczema, psoriasis and acne. Kawakawa also works well to heal skin wounds, reduce/stop itchiness and irritation of skin. Māori also use kawakawa to treat scalds and burns (including sunburn).
